The lack of mental health care for young people in the UK leaves some in crisis.

The Zone’s Youth Support Service is supported by The Manny Cussins Foundation and is a completely confidential service.

If you are, or you know of a young person who needs some TLC, practical support or immediate intervention for whatever reason please get in touch. We network with other organisations and signpost towards the best possible support available.

Please contact Niki, our Youth Support Officer on 0113 217 2531

Key components of The Zone’s Youth Support Service include:

  • Undertaking comprehensive needs and strengths assessment with young people including initial and ongoing risk assessment, and safety planning as required.

  • Developing support plans with young people which aim to strengthen the support structures around them, including family supports, and develop their own capacities.

  • Providing practical assistance, advocacy and interpersonal support and safety planning as needed.

  • Facilitating supported referrals to access specialist services.

  • Collaborating and participating in inter-agency case review meetings if required.

  • Young people are able to access services to meet a range of specific needs. Services work with young people in collaborative ways that reduce the stress of multiple service demands and avoid gaps.

As part of our Safeguarding protocols we work closely with West Yorkshire Police in order to support children who are resident in households where there are incidents of domestic violence and abuse. We know that children can be significantly physically or emotionally hurt by being either present in the house or directly witnessing an incident of domestic violence.

If you would like further support or information about domestic violence and abuse please go to:

The Zone is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. It recognises its responsibility to take all reasonable steps to promote safe practice and to protect children from harm, abuse and exploitation. The Zone Youth Club acknowledges its duty to act appropriately to any allegations, reports or suspicions of abuse.

Paid staff and volunteers will endeavour to work together to encourage the development of an ethos, which embraces difference and diversity and respects the rights of children, young people and adults.
